About

Dear Friends,

Welcome to His Word–with Friends! (For those of you who may be unfamiliar, that’s a play on Words With Friends, the popular online Scrabble game). You should find that you can view and comment on this blog equally well on your computer, tablet or smartphone. It’s adaptable.

This Bible study comprises three parts:

On this Site.  One of the Moderators will post the scripture passage we agree to study next. Come to this site and read the passage. Add your comments, questions, and thoughts (by clicking the “Leave a Comment” link or typing in the “Leave a Reply” box found at the bottom of a post)–all of which will appear sequentially under the topic scripture. You might include cross-references to passages related to the passage we’re studying, personal experiences, insights, and more. You may have comments or responses to earlier comments.

NOTE: This site is now open to the public. Anyone may make a comment, but comments will not be posted on the site unless they are first approved for posting by a Moderator.

On our Conference Calls.  We will initially maintain our existing Bible study schedule: the FIRST, THIRD, and LAST Tuesday of each month. The conference call will begin at 8:30 pm, and finish at 9:30 pm.

The CONFERENCE LINE NUMBER has been made known to our regular participants. If you would like to be invited to participate, please leave a comment on one of the posts, giving us your name, email or telephone number, and a brief description of your interest. Your comment will not be posted, but one of the Moderators will receive your request and we will respond to you.

*** When you call the conference line, lease set your telephone on MUTE after announcing your participation, in order to keep ambient noise from interfering with the group. Turn the mute off to speak to the group, and then turn mute ON again when finished.

When you speak to the group by telephone, please get the attention of the group first, and then continue. Please make every effort to speak clearly and with sufficient volume. But please do not shout into your phone’s microphone; it will distort your voice.

We will need to develop some further elements of conference call etiquette; they will be posted here!

Face to Face. We will continue to gather at accustomed locations. You might wish to host a gathering as well, and join the conference call together.

By Recording. We will plan to post a recording of each conference call on the conference line site, or perhaps in a shared DropBox folder, essentially turning them into podcasts for those who miss a call or want a refresher on a call’s content. We will provide information allowing you to listen to the recording on the conference call website, or to download it to your computer.
